ROYALES ANNOUNCE NEW COACHING STAFF

The Marquette Royales are pleased to announce that Kevin Shupenia will take over as the new Head Coach/GM of the Marquette Royales, effective immediately. Shupenia is no stranger to Junior hoockey as he is entering his 7th year of coaching at the Junior level.

Shupenia started coaching with the Chicago Junior Huskies, where he led his team to a 2009-2010 National Championship in their first year. After a second trip to Nationals in 2010-2011, Shupenia was hired to start a new franchise in Ft Wayne, Indiana, the Ft Wayne Federals, where again, he led his team to a National Championship tournament berth in only their second year.

Shupenia has been with the Ft Wayne Federals for the past four seasons and now looks to continue the winning ways that have been established in Marquette. "I'm looking forward to coming to Marquette, a true hockey community in every sense of the word, to continue the success the previous coaching staff has established here. I enjoyed our trip up here with the Federals this past season, seeing the great facility and the town itself, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity ahead", Shupenia said. "I'm also looking forward to being on the same side as the Royale Pains", he added.

Shupenia will have Jim Stanaway back on staff as the Assistant and Goaltending Coach for the Royales. "Coach Jim will do a great job in helping our goaltenders develop at this level. His track record in helping goaltenders become better players speaks for itself".

New to the team staff this season will be Bob Airaudi, in the position of Community Relations Director. "We, as an organization, believe it is very important in being part of the Marquette community and give back to those that support our organization so well. We are thrilled to have Bob Airaudi here, as he is well involved in the Marquette community. We want the players in the community on a regular basis throughout the season, which is all part of them growing up to be, not just good hockey players, but fine young men".

Let's welcome Coach Shupenia, Coach Jim and Mr. Airaudi to the Royales staff as we look forward to the season ahead!
